MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — Raptors 905 (24-9) dominated the Canton Charge (18-15) 118-88, in front of a lively crowd of 2,861 Saturday night. Brady Heslip led the 905 with 18 points while Jared Sullinger and Edy Tavares recorded matching 16-point, 10-rebound efforts. The victory pushes the 905 win total to 24, passing last season’s total of 23 with 17 games remaining.
Raptors 905 jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead in the first quarter, propelled by Tavares’ 10 points in the opening frame. John Holland scored seven of his game-high 22 points in the quarter, as his Charge trailed 33-16 after 12 minutes of play.
Canton would narrowly outscore the 905 28-27 in the second, benefitting from a seven-point frame from Roosevelt Jones. Jared Sullinger, on assignment from the Toronto Raptors, scored six points to lead the 905 into halftime ahead 60-44.
Opening the second half, Tavares scored six points and grabbed seven rebounds to secure his double-double by the midway point of the third frame. Holland countered for the Charge with a quarter-high eight points. Headed to the final period of play the 905 held a 20-point advantage over the visitors.
The 905 would not relent in the fourth quarter, scoring 33 points and earning the season series win against Canton. John Jordan led the 905 with seven points, including a highlight reel alley-oop to secure the victory.
