FRISCO, Texas — The D-League’s leading scorer, Manny Harris, poured in 29 points to lead the Texas Legends (15-17) to a 114-98 victory over the Iowa Energy (8-25) on Saturday night in Frisco.
The two teams exchanged leads five times in the first quarter before Harris put together seven points to give the Legends a 23-17 edge at the buzzer. Texas built the lead to double-digits in the second, but the Energy went on a 16-4 run to end the half on top.
The third quarter started off quick with the two teams keeping it close. The Legends were spreading the scoring and the Energy were answering every shot. Midway through the quarter, Texas sunk six straight points and the tone was set for the home team’s victory. The lead built to 27 but wasn’t safe with Iowa’s sharpshooters. Grizzlies assignee Wade Baldwin IV sunk an outside shot that kicked off a 10-point run for the visitors, but the double-digit deficit proved to be too much as the Legends took the win in front of a sold-out home crowd.
Harris’ 29 led all scorers and he topped it off with 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. JJ Avila added a game-high 12 rebounds while Jameel Warney had his third straight double-double of 13 points, 11 rebounds and added a team-high 5 assists and 3 blocks. Ben Gordon finished with 18 points, 4 assists, and Andre Dawkins added 16 off the bench.
Troy Williams came off the bench to lead the Energy with 22 points while Wayne Selden and Baldwin added 20 and 19 respectively.
