NEWARK, Del. – The Delaware 87ers (20-17) fell to the Raptors 905 (27-9) 110-96 on Saturday night, breaking their four-game winning streak.
Shawn Long recorded a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Russ Smith put up a team-high 23 points.
Both teams came out ready to play in the first. The quarter saw eight lead changes and two ties, but the Sevens pulled ahead 36-30 by the time the buzzer sounded. Aaron Harrison led the way at the start of the game with seven points in the first quarter.
The Sevens hung onto their lead for the beginning of the second until the Raptors 905 went up 31-29 with 8:29 left in the quarter and headed into the locker room with a 55-50 edge. Russ Smith and Devondrick Walker took the reins in the second, putting up eight points each.
Delaware led by as many as seven in the third, but it was during the fourth quarter that the game slipped away from Sevens. The Raptors 905 finished the game on a 15-8 run to seal the victory.
