FRISCO, Texas – The Texas Legends (17-19) had their hottest night of the year, shooting 60% for a season-high score to defeat the Sioux Falls Skyforce (23-16) 145-129 Saturday night in Frisco.
The two teams kept it close in the first, exchanging leads 8 times with Sioux Falls holding the edge 33-28 at the end of the quarter. The Skyforce maintained their lead five minutes into the second before Keith Hornsby took over with back-to-back-to-back threes to give the Legends the advantage they would hold through the second half. With 13 second-quarter points from Hornsby, the Legends had built a double-digit gap at the break.
Texas took the largest lead of the night in the third as Jameel Warney heated up for 6-of-8 and connected on 7-of-9 attempts at the free throw line to tally 19. Sioux Falls began a push midway through the final quarter, making a 16-5 run to pull within seven, but the Legends answered with consecutive baskets to seal the visitors’ fate.
Warney had another season-high night with 35 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. Ben Gordon came off the bench for a season-high of his own with 34 points off of 12-of-13 shots. Manny Harris finished with 21 points, 8 rebounds, and Pierre Jackson dished out a game-high 13 assists along with 9 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals.
Patrick Miller led the Skyforce with 31 points, 7 assists and Keith Benson added the game’s only double-double of 15 points, 11 rebounds.
