Getting Buckets, Making History: The Delaware 87ers’ Unprecedented Scoring Binge

By Brian Kotloff | March 14, 2016

Six NBA Development League players have scored at least 45 points in a game this season. Four of them play for the Delaware 87ers.

The Sixers’ affiliate took ownership of a part of basketball history last week when their newest star, guard Russ Smith, dropped 50 against his former team, the Iowa Energy.

He joined Jordan McRae, Christian Wood and Sean Kilpatrick among the Sevens who’ve reached the mark this season. McRae, who set the new league record with 61 points in January, has since signed a multi-year deal with the Cavaliers. Kilpatrick is now a Brooklyn Net, averaging 10.9 points in 18.3 minutes over his seven games with the team.
